Exploring the Tataouine Area
We headed out to find our second sight for the day. In a little village where the main attraction suddenly appeared to be us when we showed up. I believe this is the town of Ksar Ouled Soltane. It is a fortified granary located near Tataouine and a sight where part of Star Wars, The Phantom Menace was filmed. We thought we were the only tourists there in our two carloads, but another car with two Tunisian men, in a Land Rover pulled up. I realized that it was the same men and car that were at our first sight.

They mainly used this place to store their grain. |

On the bottom level, near the left is a painting. There was a man inside this cave, painting away. We bought one for a souvenir, to be framed later. |

This fellow, Michael, was our Canadian friend that we took with us to sightsee. He was staying in the same cave/hotel and spoke French. We drug him along, he did not seem to mind. |
We then headed out to the next site. I can't recall which site was which. So here is the map of a bunch of them in the area. I just recall that this place had a lot of men wandering around, sitting, drinking tea and then some playing a domino game around a table. I got a few really good photos (with permission) of the older men sitting around or playing games.
A few of us noticed that the LandRover with the two Tunisian men were parked on the street while we were here. We were starting to get suspicious.

A small town, dusty and out in the middle of nowhere. |
No the most scenic place. You can see the camels in the middle of the photo. |
Not much activity going on around here! |
Another granary similar to the last one. |
I love the odd doors.
A lovely shot of the minaret and the odd door.
